Deep Into the Chasm is the first episode of the first season of The Jungle Bunch.
Synopsis[]
Maurice,Al,Bob and Gilbert play with sticks but when it's Gilbert's turn an earthquake occurs,when it's finished everyone checks if there is any damage,after not noticing any the signal sounds.
The Professor Ernest,a kiwi,comes to the Jungle Bunch because the earthquake has opened up a large crack right in the middle of his village! and if it is not fixed their houses will sink.Ernest explains that he's a great inventor and that he tried to sew up the jungle,he also shows them his inventions but the look pretty useless.
Upon reaching the village they decide that the best thing is to go down the crack to see the damage that has been caused underground,before going down Gilbert suggest measuring the depth to see if the rope is long enough.Ernest responds that he will use his scientific method,throw a rock tied to a rope and once it hits the bottom the rope is recovered and the length used is measured.
Miguel pushes the rock but it turns out that it was tied to the same rope that everyone tied themselves with so they all fall through the crack,their fall is briefly stopped by a log but when Ernest falls the log gives way and they fall to the bottom of the crack.Once underground they meet Patrick,an axolotl who enjoys playing practical jokes,by telling him about the earthquake he guides them to the origin of the problem.
A block of stone shifted during the earthquake and is putting pressure on the pillar that supports the kiwi village,since they cannot move it they decide to destroy it,so with the materials from the place,the pieces of Ernest's inventions and his feathers,they create a rocket that destroys the pillar.
But the crack begins to close so everyone runs to get out before it closes,managing to do so thanks to a last rocket and the log with which they fall,the kiwi village is safe and in the end the others play a prank on Maurice.
